Responsibilities: International automotive parts manufacturer has an opportunity for a Quality Engineer at a plant in Maxton, NC. This role will be responsible to plan and conduct activities associated with the quality assurance and quality control of plant industrial and business processes, materials and products. Specifically:
- Key customer contact regarding quality related issues. Communicate with the customer regarding APQP, quality issues and pro-active continuous improvement activities.
- Accountable for reductions in Customer PPM, Supplier PPM, and Warranty R/100 metrics.
- Champion 8D problem solving teams formed to address customer and in-plant quality concerns.
- Coordinate structured problem-solving activities associated with internal and external issues.
- Supervise Quality Auditors and/or Quality Inspectors.
- Participate in the APQP process with a cross functional team and make disposition on supplier and internal PPAPs.
- Participate in IATF16949 internal and external audits
- Lead application of quality tools such as SPC, DOE's, Fishbone Diagrams, Five Why's, Affinity Diagrams and Mistake-Proofing
- Facilitate the implementation of a plant quality system that is in compliance to the IATF16949
- Drive rigorous internal and external benchmarking of performance. Create an environment in which no one tolerates complacency. Redesign or ask others to redesign systems and processes to increase effectiveness. Use metrics and performance measures to track progress.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Math, Science or Engineering plus 3 years in Quality Engineering is required. Specific knowledge needed to perform this job include:
- MS Office Suite experience (Excel & PowerPoint) required
- Experienced in requirements and implementation of IATF16949 is required
- Experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems is preferred
- Experienced in related manufacturing processes (welding/assembly) is preferred
- Experienced in Structured Problem Solving (8D) is required
- Knowledge of Basic/Advanced Statistics is preferred
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Kaizen is preferred
- Quality certifications (CRE CQE Black Belt etc.) are preferred
- Demonstrated success in establishing positive relationships with customers is necessary.
