Director, Computational Biology
My biotech client is expanding and seeks bioinformatics leader to build a computational group to support their oncology drug discovery and development efforts. The ideal candidate will take on the following tasks:
- Develop the strategy and set priorities for the internal bioinformatics function
- Develop new methods and algorithms to identify and characterize alterations in tumor DNA and RNA derived from pre-clinical and clinical tumor samples
- Work with scientists to analyze preclinical and clinical genomics datasets to make novel discoveries at all phases of the drug discovery process
- Mine publicly available and proprietary oncology-focused genomic databases to make novel insights and generate new hypotheses
- Interpret results and build effective tools to present findings to project teams in clear and concise manner
- Act as an internal thought leader on data analysis for drug discovery and translational efforts
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualities:
- PhD in bioinformatics and significant industry experience
- Extensive experience in building and maintaining clinical-grade NGS pipelines including RNA-seq data and pathway analysis
- Experience in cancer research and implementing computational approaches for cancer genome analysis and predictive biomarker discovery
- Experience with AWS-based bioinformatics infrastructure, mining and analysis of oncology genomic databases, and expertise in R and Bioconductor, cloud computing, and modern scripting languages
- Proficiency in building custom data visualization tools
- Detail-oriented and well organized with the ability to maintain detailed records, databases, and pipelines
Title and salary are commensurate with experience.
