Start up biotech company in bay area is seeking a Scientist - HSC Gene Regulation
 
Our client is developing a proprietary technology platform to target various regenerative pathways critical for the establishment of complex diseases.
 
Responsibilities: 
• Reprogramming mammalian cell-lines and primary cells into relevant progenitor stem cells
• Evaluating and optimizing various cell engineering strategies
• Genome editing of cells for functional optimization
• Expanding progenitor cells in culture and banking
• Differentiating progenitor cells into targeted tissue cells
• Development of disease modeling assays through comparative experiments
• Designing AAV and lentivirus-based gene delivery systems
• Technology transfer between external parties to the company
• Setting up, maintaining, and efficiently operating cost-effective laboratory operations
• Assists other colleagues in experiments and lab techniques training
• Maintaining inventory and ensuring equipment maintenance
 
Requirements: 
• Ph.D. degree in biotechnology, pharmaceutical, stem cell or related fields with 2 years of post-doctoral experience.
• Minimal technical qualifications: Strong expertise and experience in cellular reprogramming, adult stem cell such as HSCs, MSCs or SSCs culture and characterization; multi-parameter flow cytometry, western blot, qRT-PCR is required
• Preferred technical qualifications: molecular cloning, gene editing technologies, and single cell RNA-seq
• Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented
• Demonstrated scientific track record through relevant publications and/or patents
• Exceptional teamwork and communication skills
• Excellent scientific skills in experimentation, record-keeping and both oral and written presentation
