TITLE: Director Accounting(healthcare setting)

If so, an opportunity to work with an integrated health care system based in east central Ohio is looking for someone to join their team.
The system is a not-for-profit and has over 300 physicians and multiple outpatient care centers throughout the area.
The system is the largest provider in a six county region and a primary referral center.
It offers a higher level of service than what is typically found in a community of its size including open-heart surgery, trauma care, a Level II neonatal intermediate care unit, neurosurgery and
comprehensive cancer services.
This position is responsible for the overall direction and management of the hospital’s general accounting department including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivable. The incumbent is responsible for developing procedures for the preparation of financial reporting for the healthcare system to ensure the highest degree of integrity of the financial statements. Responsible for implementing and maintaining a system of internal controls that will ensure that company assets are adequately safeguarded and that all financial reporting is prepared in compliance with all financial policies, SEC requirements and US GAAP. This position reports to the Corporate Controller.
-Assists Corporate Controller to ensure that credit risk is balanced with business objectives, targets are met and that only valid claims with proper management authorization are paid.
-Oversees the general accounting function, which includes inter-company accounting, cash management/reconciliation, financial reporting, balance sheet management
-Oversees the preparation, maintenance, and overall integrity of the consolidated financial statements, attesting to the accuracy of the financial statements.
-Reviews and ensures accuracy of journal entries to reflect monthly activity.
-Responsible for coordinating all necessary financial projections and forecasting for review by Corporate Controller.
-Assists Corporate Controller to ensure compliance with all applicable local, state and federal laws, rules, and regulations.
-Assists Corporate Controller to ensure policies and procedures (internal controls) are in place to provide reasonable assurance that the company assets are protected.
-Coordinates and oversees the Sarbanes Oxley activities relative to internal controls documentation and testing and segregation of duties.
-Assists Corporate Controller in the preparation of work papers supporting the annual tax return and coordinates the preparation of annual tax return.
-Provides technical accounting GAAP guidance and support to all company entities. At times, this may include involvement in due diligence and other activities surrounding acquisitions/dispositions.
-Ensures that company financial records, under responsibility, are maintained in compliance with company policies and US GAAP. Responsible for reviewing monthly/quarterly account reconciliations and other documents to ensure this compliance.
-Assists Corporate Controller with the completion of Federal and State tax reporting requirements and other reports required by government regulation.
-Ensures the computer system continues to operate as required. Involved in validating/designing suggested changes to ensure accounting requirements continue to be met.
-Coordinates work relating to both internal and external audits in the periodic review of the company financial records. Is further responsible for the implementation of agreed upon recommendations, related to areas of responsibility, resulting from the audit findings
-Assist Corporate Controller in selecting, training and evaluating performance of Accounting team to ensure quality of service and technical expertise. Responsible for continued development of these associates.
Masters in Accounting or a CPA required. Bachelors in Finance/Accounting required.
10 years of Accounting experience with the last 5 years showing increase of responsibility(leadership).
Experience in Bonds space/reporting.
Experience in Multiple Entities(as they have @10 entities).
Experience in Auditing(healthcare is a highly regulated so audits are common).
Position reports to Corporate Controller.
Looking for a self starter that is driven and detailed oriented.
It is an exciting opportunity to build and elevate the department as this is a new position. But it is not for the weak as they are in the midst of an overall revamp of the accounting area.
Have had a consultant in and working with a Black Belt Lean Sigma person and they are in the process of creating/reinventing the new department as it has not been a high functioning department.
There is multiple entities(10) consisting of RX, DME, Daycare, Physician Services, Physician ED group, etc.).
The hospital will offer a range between 110K-120K. They will also offer a full benefit package including relocation.
