  1. Anticipate, recognize, evaluate, monitor, prevent and /or mitigate health and environmental effects from work place hazards to employees and the environment

  2. Supervise the Environmental System Department to ensure all facets of their job responsibilities and duties are being performed.

  3. Reports to the Environmental Compliance Manager and interfaces with the Environmental compliance group, SHES and operation

  4. Assist with interpreting and maintaining compliance with Company’s solid waste and waste water Texas Permits, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the Texas Commission (TCEQ)

  5. Assist with keeping abreast of all changes that are approved by the EPA and TCEQ regulations and any other changes that are published in the Federal and Texas registers that affect the Company’s Texas facilities solid waste and waste water and make sure that it is communicated to the affected department.

  6. Oversee all current and future TERP, APAR, etc. remediation projects.

  7. Assist with the regulatory inspection program, i.e. NPDES, SPCC, TERP, APAR, etc.

  8. Assist all Company’s Texas facilities in the compliance of and development of environmental solid waste and waste water

    regulatory procedures and processes

  9. Interface with federal, state, county, and city representatives during routine/non routine solid waste and waste water


  10. Maintain and conduct audits regarding environmental solid waste and waste water manuals

  11. Assist and set up training and education programs for environmental solid waste and waste water regulatory compliance.

  12. Assist with notification to environmental incident and regulatory compliance reporting.

  13. Assist with internal/external SHES and Regulatory Compliance Audits.

  14. Assist with the compilation and accuracy of solid waste and waste water state and federal documentation, including but not

    limited to, Discharge Monitoring Report, Waste Receipts, SPCC and Permit Limitation, SPCC, and permit storage tracking.

  15. Monitor all plant activities for possible procedural changes that would increase, decrease, or eliminate solid waste and/or

    waste waters.

  16. Monitor the integrity of potable water, wastewater, solid waste and utility water throughout the facility.

  17. Monitor plant perimeter and water bodies on a daily basis to ascertain plant integrity.

  18. Monitor all utility systems on a daily basis and compare the results to normal and expected usage. Investigate and make

    adjustments, as required.

  19. Issue work orders and follow up, for repairs to any part of the above systems. Expedite any purchasing or labor matters to

    ensure that repairs are completed timely.

  20. Work with billing and accounting personnel to make certain that utilities are billed completely and accurately. Approve

    financial adjustments, if required.

  21. Oversee all environmental contract labs on analytical status reports, analytical scheduling, and QC/QA requirements

preventive maintenance program.


  1. Intervene and take appropriate actions on any non-conformance, possible non-conformance, or concerns affecting 1) compliance with any known legal, regulatory or company requirement, 2) Safety, Health, Environment & Security (SHE&S) and Quality Policies, procedures, or other Management system requirements, and/or 3) expectations or needs of other interested parties, and communicate it using the appropriate company process.

  2. Ensure associates under their direct supervision fully understand and comply with all SHE&S & Quality policies and procedures, as well as Standard Operating Procedures.

  3. Monitor performance to ensure the effectiveness of the management systems, promote continuous improvement and recognizing the SHE&S, Responsible Care, and Quality related performance of associates.

  4. Communicate and follow up as required on any SHE&S & Quality concerns, customer service concerns, incidents, near misses, or opportunities for improvement using the appropriate company process.

  5. When requested, lead or participate in the development, communication, and implementation of SHE&S, Responsible Care, and Quality programs, processes, and procedures.

  6. When requested, lead, participate and/or provide resources for Associate Safety Committee (ASC), Safety Meetings, Incident/Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations, Management of Change (MOC), Process Safety Startup Review (PSSR), Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), and other related SHE&S, process safety, and customer service activities.


  1. Respond to accident or incident as a member of the Emergency Response Team.

  2. In the event of any type of emergency event, if necessary, take over command and relegate emergency actions

  1. A minimum of a BS degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience in one of the environmental media

  2. Minimum of 5 years of related experience in water, solid waste or waste water in Chemical Industry.

  3. Obtain and maintain a Class C potable and waste water license

  4. Possess good communication and people skills.

  5. Basic knowledge of waste water treatment processes.

  6. Handling and disposal of solid waste (non-hazardous and hazardous).

  7. Basic utility knowledge measuring and conservation.

  8. Ability to maintain a potable water system.
