FIBER LASER PRODUCT ENGINEER, BOSTON, MA 130K+PKG

Reporting To: Sr. Operations and Site Manager

Job Summary

US Citizenship Required. The PE in the exciting Seaport District in Boston, MA and will interface on a continuous basis with the Product Management, design and production teams in Western Europe and with RA’s client’s sales team in North America. Primary initial emphasis will be on technology immersion into RA’s client’s European HQ single frequency fiber lasers and their subsequent transfer to the Boston facility. You will be responsible as the Product Engineer for the transfer of this technology including ordering equipment, negotiating with vendors, setting up the production line, training operators, troubleshooting production / processes. Additional people will be added to the team as required, but this is the lead Product Engineering role at the new Boston facility. While this is initially a Product Engineering/Mfg Engineering role the opportunity exists to later do product design work for US based products. There will also be some customer service and applications support particularly during the start-up phase of the Boston site.

The successful candidate will be comfortable wearing many hats and will know how to prioritize in a strategic manner. You should enjoy a multifaceted role that faces both inward and outward.

Justification:

The role will be the an important one at the Boston facility - the local technical expert in multiple fields and ultimately the role that will drive the technical set up of the manufacturing capability, allowing RA’s client’s Boston Div. to execute designs necessary to sell in the ITAR controlled marketplace. Will be the interface between Product Mgmt, R&D and Production in W. Europe and the US Sales team.

Qualifications - Skills - Experience

Travel Requirement

Approximately 15% annually. Initially successful candidate will be expected to spend 2-4 weeks in Europe to become intimately acquainted with the fiber laser product. Travel will be required to meet with customers together with the sales team particularly those customers working in ITAR restricted areas. Travel will also be required from time to time to Europe to RA's client's design and manufacturing sites.
