ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Our client provides critical technical services supporting advanced manufacturing operations, built on a strong Incident Free Workplace culture. They are seeking an experienced EHS Manager to work with and advise business-line leadership and field personnel, ensuring the consistent implementation of the company’s safety culture, policies, and programs across the designated region.

POSITION SUMMARY

The EHS Manager works with and advises business-line leadership and field personnel to ensure implementation of the company’s Incident Free Workplace culture. This role develops and maintains Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) policies and procedures, ensures regulatory and company compliance, leads safety programs and training, and partners with operational management to drive continuous improvement and maintain a world-class safety record.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Policy, Compliance & Programs

●      Develop, compile, and maintain Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with legislative and company requirements.

●      Assist in the design and implementation of safety programs to prevent or correct unsafe working conditions, drawing on engineering technology, industrial processes, mechanics, chemistry, industrial health, and applicable safety regulations, standards, and best practices.

●      Lead the implementation of company Best Practices / Best Known Methods.

●      Support the Hazardous Waste Management program, ensuring compliance with local legislation.

Leadership & Guidance

●      Manage site-based safety employees and personnel through a matrix organization.

●      Provide expert guidance to company management on EHS issues.

●      Support and advise project management in the effective implementation of EHS policies and procedures.

●      Facilitate the company objective of maintaining an “Incident Free Workplace,” promoting safety awareness and ownership across the designated region.

Training & Development

●      Identify safety-related training requirements for all designated employees.

●      Facilitate training as necessary, ensuring compliance with OSHA 10 / 30 training requirements per the training plan.

Projects, Audits & Continuous Improvement

●      Support new work pursuits, including preparing safety prequalifications and client presentations.

●      Support new project startup and develop project safety plans and specifications.

●      Ensure project management risk assessments and activity-related hazard analyses are completed.

●      Conduct formal audits of company workplaces to gauge compliance with EHS policies and procedures and a successful safety culture, coaching where and when needed.

●      Work closely with regional and site operational management to address issues, perform root cause analyses (RCAs), and drive continuous improvement.

●      Maintain contact and coordinate with client safety organizations.

●      Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

●      Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Environmental Sciences, Engineering, Chemistry, or an applied science field (preferred).

●      Facility operations safety experience.

●      15+ years of relevant experience; equivalent education may be considered in lieu.

●      Must obtain one of the following professional certifications/licenses (or country equivalent) within 3 months of hire: Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), or 30-hour OSHA certification (OSHA 500 preferred).

●      Strong interpersonal skills and excellent verbal and written communication.

●      Exceptional organization and coordination skills.

●      Working knowledge of Microsoft products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
