My Client is an established and growing commercial construction company with more than 30 years of experience serving healthcare, education, and other commercial markets. They are seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our leadership team and play a key role in supporting the company's continued growth.

The CFO will work directly with ownership and company leadership to oversee the financial health of the organization, improve financial visibility, manage risk, strengthen financial processes, and provide the financial insight needed to make sound business decisions.

The Opportunity

This is a hands-on leadership role for a construction finance professional who understands that construction accounting is different from traditional accounting. The CFO will oversee accounting and financial reporting while working closely with Project Managers and operational leadership to understand and improve project financial performance.

Key responsibilities include:

• Lead and oversee all accounting and financial reporting functions.
• Manage construction accounting, job costing, WIP, and percentage-of-completion reporting.
• Oversee project forecasting, cost-to-complete projections, gross margins, and project profitability.
• Partner with Project Managers to identify financial risks, cost overruns, and margin issues.
• Lead annual budgeting, financial forecasting, and cash flow management.
• Monitor working capital, billing, collections, retainage, and overall liquidity.
• Maintain banking, bonding, insurance, CPA, and other external financial relationships.
• Lead and develop the accounting team.
• Provide ownership with timely financial analysis, reporting, and strategic recommendations.
• Help improve and integrate the company’s financial and construction technology systems.

Technology

• Vista by Viewpoint for accounting and financial management.
• Procore for project management and financial management.

Hands-on experience with Vista by Viewpoint is strongly preferred. Experience with Procore, particularly Procore Financials, is also highly preferred. Experience using both systems within a commercial construction environment is a significant advantage.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will have:

• 8+ years of progressive accounting or financial leadership experience in the construction industry.
• Strong knowledge of construction accounting, job costing, WIP, and percentage-of-completion accounting.
• Experience with project forecasting, cost-to-complete reporting, change orders, retainage, subcontractor commitments, billing, and collections.
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial analysis.
• Experience working with banks, sureties, insurance providers, and outside CPA firms.
• Strong Excel and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• The ability to explain financial information clearly to Project Managers and other non-financial leaders.
• Strong business judgment, integrity, and attention to detail.
• A hands-on, collaborative approach suited to a growing, owner-led construction company.

A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field is preferred.
