The Production Manager is responsible for managing the physical and human resources required to assemble, test, and deliver the highest quality Space and high-reliability products. Operating within a small Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) environment   you will oversee daily operations to meet strict schedule requirements, drive continuous improvement, and consistently meet or exceed customer expectations.
Responsibilities
  • Production & Schedule Management: Meet daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly production schedules across 4 SMT lines. Monitor cycle times and manage overtime expenses to maintain efficiency.
  • Resource & Manpower Planning: Proactively plan manpower, facility, and equipment needs based on the production schedule. Ensure the correct work layout and employee skill sets are in place.
  • Daily Performance Tracking: Track daily performance goals using the Production Analysis Board and assure strict adherence to manufacturing schedules.
  • Leadership & Team Development: Train, coach, and mentor the high-reliability production team. Work personally or through Team Leads/Training Engineers to foster effective equipment and material handling.
  • Quality & Compliance: Ensure all production activities comply with ISO standards, strict product quality levels, and proper PWB handling/ESD protocols.
  • Process Optimization: Participate in Production Readiness Reviews. Collaborate with Engineering and Supply Chain to make recommendations regarding products, processes, and specifications to improve product flow.
  • Continuous Improvement: Partner with the Senior Operations Manager to identify inefficiencies, reduce costs, and implement Lean manufacturing practices to improve quality and on-time delivery.
  • Culture & Safety: Create and foster a culture of transparent problem identification and solving. Enforce strict adherence to safety rules, security procedures, and the handling of classified materials or CCI (Controlled Cryptographic Items) where applicable.
  • Personnel Administration: Administer all Human Resources programs and policies—including selection, promotion, transfers, salary administration, and termination—fairly and in compliance with all equal opportunity regulations.
    Requirements
    • Education: Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of electronics manufacturing experience, specifically focusing on circuit card assemblies (CCA) and box builds. Experience with Space-grade or high-reliability products is preferred.
    • Technical Skills: Adept with J-STD-001 soldering requirements and the inspection of soldering on PCB components. Familiarity with NASA standards and the IPC Space Addendum is highly preferred.
    • Methodologies: Strong background or familiarity with continuous improvement frameworks and Lean manufacturing.
    • Certifications: Ability to successfully complete and demonstrate proficiency in local manufacturing programs (e.g., Solder Certification, PWB Handling, First Piece Certification, Component Identification, ESD, and Right-To-Know).
    • Core Competencies: Strong computer, communication, analytical, interpersonal, and time-management skills. Excellent business acumen and a steadfast commitment to high quality.
    • Physical & Security Clearance: Vision corrected to 20/20. Ability to obtain a government-granted security clearance if required.
