Job description:

We are seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic Pediatric Clinic-Based Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our outpatient pediatric therapy team in Greensboro, AL. Working under the supervision of a Licensed Occupational Therapist (OTR), you will help infants, toddlers, and school-aged children build the fine motor, sensory processing, visual-motor, and self-help skills necessary to thrive in their daily routines, school environments, and home lives.

Key Responsibilities

Direct Therapy Delivery: Implement targeted pediatric occupational therapy interventions in a clinic setting to support childrens individualized plan-of-care goals, motor development, and functional independence.

Clinic-Based & Play-Focused Skill Building: Utilize specialized clinical space and sensory gyms to focus on functional skill-building, including fine motor grasp, tool use (writing utensils, scissors, utensils), sensory integration, self-feeding, dressing, and gross motor coordination.

Caregiver & Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with families, caregivers, and multidisciplinary clinic team members (speech therapists, physical therapists) to provide home exercise programs, sensory strategies, and adaptive recommendations for the home and school environments.

Progress Tracking & Documentation: Document clinical progress toward specific functional milestones, complete timely session notes, and assist the supervising OTR with periodic re-evaluations and treatment plan updates.

Clinical Equipment & Therapeutic Setup: Utilize and maintain clinic therapy equipment (swings, sensory tools, adaptive seating, fine motor manipulation stations) tailored to each child's individual treatment needs.

Family Engagement & Education: Maintain warm, supportive communication with parents and caregivers to explain therapeutic activities, provide home strategy ideas, and ensure family-centered progress.

Qualifications:

Qualifications & Requirements

Education: Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) program.

Licensure: Active (or eligibility for) COTA license from the Alabama State Board of Occupational Therapy.

Certifications: Current NBCOT certification and Pediatric CPR/First Aid certification.

Experience: Prior experience working in a pediatric clinic, outpatient therapy setting, or early intervention environment preferred.

Skills: Strong interpersonal communication, patience, creative play-based problem-solving, and a deep understanding of pediatric developmental milestones and sensory integration techniques.
