Executive Alliance is pleased to represent our client who are a boutique medical malpractice and personal injury law firm with presence in Nassau County, Long Island, New York and the Bronx, New York.

They are seeking a seeking an experienced Litigation Attorney to join their Nursing Home Litigation practice.

The ideal candidate will have strong plaintiff-side litigation experience handling nursing home negligence, elder abuse, medical malpractice, or complex personal injury matters.

This position is ideal for an attorney who is comfortable taking ownership of a caseload and handling matters through all phases of litigation. The successful candidate will have excellent writing, deposition, negotiation, and case-management skills and the ability to analyze complex medical issues and records.

NOTE: This is a fully onsite role reporting into firm HQ in Nassau County, Long Island, New York.

Responsibilities:

  • Handle a caseload of plaintiff-side nursing home negligence and elder abuse matters from inception through resolution.
  • Investigate and develop claims involving nursing home negligence, including pressure injuries/bedsores, falls, fractures, infections, malnutrition, dehydration, medication errors, elopement, inadequate supervision, and other failures of care.
  • Draft and review pleadings, complaints, bills of particulars, discovery demands and responses, motions, affirmations, and other litigation documents.
  • Conduct and defend depositions of plaintiffs, defendants, nursing home personnel, healthcare providers, and other witnesses.
  • Review and analyze nursing home charts, hospital records, medical records, policies and procedures, and other evidence.
  • Work closely with medical, nursing, and other experts to evaluate liability, causation, and damages.
  • Develop case strategy and identify key liability and damages issues.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare substantive motions and oppositions.
  • Attend court conferences, hearings, mediations, settlement conferences, and other proceedings.
  • Negotiate settlements with defense counsel and insurance representatives.
  • Prepare cases for trial, including witnesses, experts, exhibits, medical evidence, and motions.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients and their families and provide meaningful updates throughout the litigation process.
  • Work collaboratively with paralegals and other members of the litigation team to ensure cases move efficiently and deadlines are met.

The successful candidate will be comfortable working directly with clients and families during difficult circumstances and will combine strong advocacy with professionalism, responsiveness, and compassion.

Qualifications:

Qualifications

  • Admission to the New York State Bar and in good standing required.
  • 3+ years of litigation experience preferred.
  • Plaintiff-side nursing home negligence, elder abuse, medical malpractice, or personal injury litigation experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of New York civil litigation practice and procedure.
  • Experience taking and defending depositions.
  • Strong legal research and writing skills.
  • Ability to analyze complex medical records and work effectively with medical and nursing experts.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a litigation caseload and meet court and discovery deadlines.
  • Strong negotiation and case-evaluation skills.
  • Excellent written, oral advocacy, interpersonal, and client-communication skills.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently while functioning effectively as part of a litigation team.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
