Position Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Assistant Facilities Manager to support the maintenance and operations of commercial buildings and surrounding grounds. This role is responsible for ensuring facilities are safe, functional, and well-maintained by performing inspections, coordinating repairs, and assisting with contractor oversight.
The ideal candidate has a strong mechanical background, thrives in an active environment, and takes a proactive approach to facility maintenance and problem solving.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain buildings and grounds to ensure a clean, safe, and well-organized environment
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and perform repairs on mechanical systems and building infrastructure
- Monitor facility conditions and address maintenance issues proactively
- Create and manage work orders for completed maintenance tasks
- Coordinate and oversee outside contractors and vendors performing on-site work
- Ensure compliance with all company and safety guidelines
- Support facility operations by assisting with additional tasks as needed
Qualifications
- Mechanical or maintenance experience in an industrial or commercial environment
- Ability to work in a physically active role, including lifting up to 50 lbs and performing activities such as walking, standing, bending, kneeling, climbing, and crawling during an 8-hour shift
- Experience using material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, carts, and hand trucks
- Ability to work in environments with varying conditions, including noise, dust, fumes, and temperature fluctuations
- Comfortable working outdoors year-round when required
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with vendors, team members, and internal stakeholders
- Self-motivated with the ability to identify and prioritize tasks independently
- Strong team player mindset with a willingness to assist outside of primary responsibilities
