Project Engineer – Site Development (Civil)
Michigan (multiple locations) | Hybrid

Our client is seeking a Project Engineer with strong private site development experience to act as a technical lead on civil projects. You’ll support a Project Manager, guide junior staff, and carry work from planning through construction.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead technical aspects of private site development projects under the direction of a Project Manager.

• Prepare engineering analyses, calculations, designs, and reports for assigned project components.

• Design grading, drainage, and underground utilities (water, sanitary, storm, fire protection).

• Perform hydrologic and hydraulic calculations for gravity and pressure systems and surface conveyance.

• Produce civil construction documents, including plans, details, and supporting calculations.

• Provide construction support: respond to RFIs, review submittals, visit job sites, and coordinate design revisions.

• Assist with zoning and land-use reviews, permit applications, and coordination with agencies.

• Attend occasional public meetings (e.g., planning commission, city council) to support project approvals.

• Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams.

Qualifications

• P.E. license or ability to obtain within ~3 months of hire.

• ~5+ years of civil engineering experience with increasing responsibility.

• At least 4 years focused on private site development projects.

• Proficient in AutoCAD for land development; Civil 3D experience preferred.

• Comfortable with standard engineering and office software (e.g., Microsoft Office).

• Strong communication skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
