Our Client is a leading global manufacturer specializing in high-quality electrical and electronic components for the automotive sector. With a strong focus on innovation, quality, and advanced engineering, they supply major OEMs and other Tier 1 manufacturers worldwide. As the company continues to expand globally, they are strengthening their U.S. commercial team and are now seeking a Sales Account Manager to support ongoing growth and customer success.

The Sales Account Manager will play a pivotal role in managing customer relationships, driving business growth, and ensuring seamless delivery of projects and commercial initiatives across assigned accounts with a specific focus on the truck, commercial vehicle, bus, and passenger transportation segment. This position requires excellent communication skills, strong commercial acumen, and the ability to collaborate effectively with both internal cross-functional teams and external stakeholders. You will be responsible for managing existing programs with OEMs, uncovering new opportunities, and also prospecting new business and nurturing relationships with other manufacturers.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and strengthen relationships with existing customers, ensuring satisfaction, retention, and continued business growth.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the automotive market in alignment with company strategy.
  • Oversee project deliverables for assigned customers, conduct internal cost analysis for new quotations, anticipate customer RFQ and RFI activities, and prepare pricing for Engineering Change Requests (ECR).
  • Conduct regular customer visits to support program development, address technical or commercial concerns, and build long-term partnerships.
  • Collaborate with internal teams including engineering, production, quality, and logistics to ensure successful delivery of products and projects.
  • Track accounts receivable and ensure accurate reporting and communication with customers and headquarters.
  • Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and pricing benchmarks to support strategic sales decisions.
  • Participate in weekly CRM and business review meetings with the head office to report progress and align on objectives.
  • Negotiate long-term contracts, new production pricing, warranty terms, and prototype pricing to secure new business opportunities and meet annual sales targets.

Qualifications

  • 4–15 years of experience in Account Management or Sales within the automotive supply chain.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, Economics, or a related discipline.
  • Proven end-to-end account management experience, including new business development, sales planning, RFQ/RFI processes, inventory control, and accounts receivable management.
  • Strong understanding of vehicle electrical architecture or automotive electrical/electronic components (highly desirable).
  • Experience collaborating directly with OEMs and working as a Tier-2 supplier to Tier-1 manufacturers.
  • Knowledge of the automotive industry and key players, with any specific knowledge of the truck, commercial vehicle, bus, and passenger transportation segment desirable.
  • Proficient in RFI/RFQ management and use of supplier portals.
  • Exceptional negotiation and persuasion skills, with a proven record of closing deals and sustaining long-term customer relationships.
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities, capable of engaging stakeholders at all organizational levels.
  • Analytical and strategic mindset, with strengths in forecasting, market analysis, and sales strategy execution.
  • Strong collaboration and networking skills across cross-functional teams.
  • Willingness to travel up to 20% as required.

Location:         Schaumburg Area, IL (Hybrid Remote 3 days per week + 10% travel)

Salary:            $90,000 - $130,000 P/A - Negotiable on experience
