Job Summary:
This role combines clinical expertise and leadership responsibilities within the imaging department. The Lead Technologist ensures the delivery of high-quality mammography services, oversees departmental operations, and supports the professional development of staff. The position requires collaboration with medical personnel, nursing staff, and administrative teams to maintain efficient workflow and patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform mammography exams for patients of all ages and conditions, ensuring adherence to established imaging protocols.

  • Lead departmental operations, including scheduling, daily assignments, and coordination with diagnostic, nursing, and physician teams to optimize patient flow.

  • Maintain compliance with quality standards, accreditation requirements, and safety protocols.

  • Monitor equipment readiness, quality control processes, and record-keeping to ensure accurate and complete patient information.

  • Provide mentorship, coaching, and preceptorship to less experienced technologists, supporting professional growth.

  • Participate in performance improvement initiatives, including incident reporting, corrective actions, and workflow optimization.

  • Communicate effectively with staff, patients, and families, addressing concerns and ensuring a compassionate patient experience.

  • Support process improvement and customer service initiatives across the department.

  • Conduct walking rounds to ensure availability of supplies, equipment, and safe conditions throughout the department.

  • Collaborate with management to identify staffing needs, schedule coverage, and participate in recruitment and interview processes.

Required Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.

  • Registered Mammography Technologist (ARRT-M) and Radiologic Technologist (ARRT-R) certifications.

  • Basic or Advanced Life Support (BLS/ACLS) certification.

  • Licensed by the relevant state medical board (as applicable).

  • Minimum of 5 years’ clinical experience in mammography within a hospital or ambulatory setting.

  • Demonstrated technical proficiency in mammography imaging and patient care.

  • Proven leadership experience in a clinical setting, with the ability to manage departmental staff and workflows.

  • Ability to lift and assist patients as needed in the performance of job duties.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in quality assurance and process improvement within imaging services.

  • Strong organizational, time management, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Previous experience as a departmental mentor, preceptor, or supervisor.

Work Environment & Schedule:

  • Full-time position with primary daytime hours; may include occasional weekend rotations.

  • Clinical setting with patient-centered focus and collaborative team environment.

  • No call requirements or holiday shifts.
