This role involves handling appeals from trial courts to appellate courts — including drafting briefs, presenting oral arguments, and providing strategic guidance on complex legal issues. The position also includes providing on-site legal trial support to attorneys during ongoing trials.

Each Appellate Attorney manages approximately 10–20 active appeals and works directly with one dedicated paralegal for case support.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Handle all aspects of appellate cases, including brief writing, oral arguments, and motions practice.
  • Provide on-site legal trial support to attorneys while they are in the process of trying cases in court.
  • Meeting with attorneys and reviewing drafts of filings on substantive legal motions and responses such as summary judgement and post-judgment matters.
  • Conduct thorough legal research and analyze complex legal issues.
  • Collaborate with trial attorneys to develop and execute litigation and appellate strategies.
  • Draft clear, persuasive, and well-reasoned legal briefs and memoranda.
  • Present oral arguments before state and federal appellate courts.
  • Stay current on legal developments and changes in appellate law.

  • Active membership in good standing with the Florida Bar.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in appellate litigation, preferably on the plaintiff's side.
