What Youll DoAs the Municipal Department Manager, you will be the face, voice, and driving force behind the municipal engineering practice:
- Serve as a trusted representative to municipal clients, attending meetings and leading project management efforts.
- Review land development submissions for compliance with SALDO, zoning, grading, stormwater management, escrow accounts, and construction administration standards.
- Lead design of infrastructure and stormwater management projects, including rehabilitation and upgrades.
- Prepare local, county, and state permit applications.
- Manage MS4 compliance programs, including preparation of educational materials, illicit discharge inspections, and annual reporting.
- Develop effective, competitive, and well-structured project proposals.
- Oversee construction support services: contract administration, permitting, project coordination, and budget oversight.
- Maintain strong command of project financials, ensuring compliance with utilization, profitability, and overhead targets.
- Grow, lead, and mentor the Municipal Engineering discipline within the office.
- Actively participate in civic and professional organizations (e.g., Chamber of Commerce, ASCE, NSPE) to elevate the companys presence.
- Strengthen, retain, and expand key municipal client relationships.
Qualifications:
What Youll Bring- B.S. in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
- Professional Engineer (NJ) required; CME preferred.
- 15+ years of progressive experience in municipal engineering.
- Deep familiarity with municipal, county, and state agencies, their processes, and their people.
- A proven record of client engagement, relationship-building, and winning new work.
- Exceptional skills in communication, business development, project management, and client relations.
- Strong organizational and leadership capabilities, with clear understanding of contractual and regulatory requirements.
