Senior Accountant - Commercial Real Estate

Our client is seeking a skilled Senior Accountant to join their dynamic family office, which focuses on commercial real estate investments. This role will offer opportunities for professional growth within a collaborative and high-performing team environment. The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive background in development accounting/ cost tracking and partnership / investment accounting.
The position is full-time, in-office. The office is conveniently located in close proximity to GA 400 and I-285 in Atlanta.
 
Key Responsibilities:
• Development Accounting: Accounting for real estate development projects, ensuring accuracy in job cost tracking, budgeting, variance analysis, and reporting throughout the project lifecycle. Review and analyze the capitalization of costs and ensure compliance with the policy by managing the process for proper coding of construction invoices/payment applications and lien releases for contractors, subcontractors, and vendor invoices. Prepare monthly loan draw package for internal review, submit to lender, title company, and partners. Periodic loan compliance, if appliable.
• Partnership/ Investment Accounting: Accounting for real estate partnership investments. Complete financial close, maintain financial records and workpapers, prepare financial statements/reports for investors, and calculate and prepare periodic distributions and capital calls to partners for CFOs approval.
• Provide Asset Management Support: Coordination with partners, third party property managers and leasing.
• Ad-hoc Projects: Assist, as needed, with special projects, including due diligence, acquisitions/ dispositions/ loan closings.
Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting.

Experience:

3-5 years of commercial real estate accounting experience, particularly in development and partnership/ investment accounting and reporting.

Understanding of real estate fundamentals.

Experience with accounting software systems, preferably in the commercial real estate space (e.g., Yardi, MRI).

Skills:

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Strong problem solving and analytical skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:

CPA
 
Experience with family office or private equity accounting, especially in commercial real estate.

Working knowledge of real estate accounting concepts such as joint ventures and partnership accounting.
