Our client, a prestigious AmLaw 100 national law firm, is seeking a talented mid-level Associate Attorney to join its dynamic Employment Practice Group in one of their California offices. This position offers the opportunity to represent and counsel innovative employers, including early and mid-stage start-ups, in complex employment litigation and day-to-day advisory matters while working closely with an accomplished team.
Candidate Profile
- JD from a top-tier law school with an excellent academic record
- Active Bar Admission in California, in good standing
- 3–6 years of substantive employment litigation and counseling experience
- Demonstrated ability to advise employers on a wide range of employment law issues, including wage and hour, terminations, reductions in force, leaves of absence, workplace investigations, worker classification assessments, and employment agreements and policies
- Strong litigation skills, with experience managing both single-plaintiff and complex cases
- Significant knowledge of California state and local employment laws and regulations
- Business-minded approach to client service and ability to provide practical, solutions-oriented guidance
- Exceptional written and oral advocacy skills, with proven ability to handle depositions, motion practice, and trial preparation
Key Responsibilities
- Represent early and mid-stage start-up companies in employment-related litigation before state and local courts in California
- Counsel employers on a broad spectrum of employment law issues, including workplace policies, agreements, compensation plans, and separation agreements
- Support clients in litigation matters from inception through resolution, including leading and managing discovery efforts, case strategy development, depositions, motion practice, and trial preparation
- Provide training, advice, and tailored solutions to employers to help ensure compliance and mitigate risk
- Collaborate with partners and clients to shape strategies that align with client business objectives
- Work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with opportunities for early client interaction and responsibility
