Manufacturing facility is seeking  an experienced accounting manager / controller for a rural plant in Tennessee.  
 
The Accounting Manager/Controller is responsible for overseeing and performing all aspects of accounting and financial operations for a small manufacturing plant. This hands-on position manages daily accounting activities, ensures accurate financial reporting, supports management with financial analysis, and helps maintain compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, experienced in manufacturing accounting, and comfortable working in a small-team environment where flexibility and initiative are essential.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversee and perform all general accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger maintenance.

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.

  • Manage month-end and year-end closing processes.

  • Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts.

  • Analyze financial data and provide insights to support management decisions.

  • Develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections.

  • Oversee cost accounting and inventory valuation processes; ensure accurate reporting of material, labor, and overhead costs.

  • Coordinate with external CPA firm for audits, tax filings, and annual reporting.

  • Maintain internal controls and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.

  • Supervise and mentor one accounting staff member; review their work for accuracy and completeness.

  • Support management with special projects, financial modeling, and process improvements.

  • Manage banking relationships, credit lines, and vendor accounts as needed.

QUALIFICATION
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or related field required; CPA or CMA preferred.

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

  • Strong understanding of cost accounting and inventory management principles.

  • Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or ERP system) and Microsoft Excel.

  • Solid knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a small-company setting.
