Job description:
We are seeking a highly skilled Tax Manager to join our International Tax team. This role is designed for an experienced tax professional who can manage complex tax compliance and planning engagements, lead client relationships, and mentor a team of tax professionals.
The Tax Manager will oversee the preparation and review of corporate, partnership, and individual tax returns, with a particular focus on clients requiring advanced international tax expertise. Key Responsibilities- Lead and review the preparation of complex tax returns and ensure timely, accurate compliance across all client engagements.
- Manage government tax examinations, including direct representation of clients before taxing authorities.
- Provide advanced technical tax guidance and proactive planning strategies for clients.
- Support audit and advisory teams by participating in client meetings and tax planning initiatives.
- Oversee workflow to ensure the smooth processing of returns from preparation through delivery.
- Maintain strong client relationships, serving as the primary contact for assigned accounts.
- Monitor tax developments and communicate implications to clients and internal teams.
- Ensure billing and collections are managed effectively and efficiently.
- Actively participate in business development through referrals, networking, and community involvement.
- Mentor and coach tax professionals at the Supervising Senior, Senior, Semi-Senior, and Staff levels.
- Assess staff capabilities and tailor training and development opportunities accordingly.
- Conduct staff evaluations and performance reviews to support growth and retention.
- Foster a collaborative team environment that encourages learning and professional development.
Qualifications:
Qualifications- 57 years public accounting experience, with demonstrated progression in tax complexity and scope.
- Minimum 1 year of supervisory experience overseeing tax preparers.
- Bilingual proficiency in Japanese required.
- Bachelors degree in Accounting required; Masters degree in Taxation preferred.
- CPA, JD, or LLM required.
