Job Title: Senior Process Engineer - Fluid Process Systems
Location: Sun Prairie, WI
Reports To: Process Business Unit Manager
Travel: 30% – 50%

Must-Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering

  • 8–10 years of related process engineering experience (or equivalent education/experience)

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD with Isometric

  • Strong knowledge of Dairy 3A, USDA & FDA guidelines

  • Hands-on experience with batching, processing, packaging, CIP/COP, pasteurization, filtration, and heat exchangers

  • Understanding of instrumentation, controls, and utility systems (steam, condensate, glycol, tower water, city water)

  • Valid US Driver’s License and ability to obtain a Passport for potential international travel

 

Strongly Preferred:

  • Supervisory or leadership experience in process engineering
  • Experience in the food & beverage, dairy, or pharmaceutical industries

Position Overview

The Senior Process Engineer plays a key role in designing and developing fluid process systems—from single equipment installations to full plant layouts. You’ll manage projects from concept through design, equipment specification, installation, and start-up/commissioning while serving as a vital technical resource and communicator across clients, vendors, contractors, and internal teams.

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead design of process systems including equipment, utilities, and instrumentation.

  • Size and specify pumps, valves, and components for each application.

  • Develop PFDs, P&IDs, mass balances, utility/equipment matrices, SOPs/SSOPs, and performance specs.

  • Prepare and manage RFQs for equipment vendors and contractors.

  • Identify, analyze, and implement process improvements.

  • Provide supervision for field personnel at customer sites.

  • Collaborate with project teams to maximize efficiency and ensure customer satisfaction.

  • Travel to client facilities for site visits, project oversight, and start-ups.

  • Requisition or purchase essential equipment and materials.

 

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Work is typically performed in an office environment but requires regular travel to client facilities, production plants, or construction job sites.

  • Noise levels vary; industrial sites and production facilities may be loud.

  • May require standing, walking, climbing, balancing, and lifting during site visits.

  • Overtime, nights, weekends, or holidays may be required depending on project demands.
