Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Plastic Injection Mold Engineer to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design, development, troubleshooting, and optimization of injection molds and molding processes. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality, cost-effective, and efficient plastic part production.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and validate injection mold tooling for plastic components.

  • Collaborate with product design engineers to ensure part designs are manufacturable and cost-effective.

  • Specify materials, mold components, and mold construction techniques.

  • Oversee tooling fabrication, mold trials, and vendor management.

  • Optimize molding processes for cycle time, quality, and efficiency improvements.

  • Troubleshoot molding and tooling issues, implementing corrective actions.

  • Conduct mold flow simulations and tolerance analysis to predict performance.

  • Develop and maintain documentation including tooling specifications, work instructions, and maintenance plans.

  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives in tooling, processes, and product design.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Plastics Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).

  • [X]+ years of experience in plastic injection molding design, tooling, and process engineering.

  • Strong knowledge of plastic materials, molding processes, and tooling design principles.

  • Proficiency with CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar).

  • Experience with mold flow analysis software (Moldflow, Moldex3D) preferred.

  • Hands-on troubleshooting skills in molding operations.

  • Knowledge of GD&T, tolerance stack-up, and precision machining practices.

  • Strong problem-solving, project management, and communication skills.


Preferred Skills

  • Experience in [automotive, medical device, consumer products – adjust to your industry].

  • Familiarity with ISO, GMP, or other quality systems.

  • Knowledge of automation and robotics in molding applications.
