Our client, a leading multi-disciplinary planning and design firm in San Diego, is seeking a Senior Planner II to join their award-winning team. With a focus on innovative, sustainable, and community-centered development, this is your opportunity to work on landmark projects across the California region.
In this role, you will lead complex planning initiatives, mentor junior staff, and help bring visions for communities to life. Youll collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams, interact with public agencies, and contribute to projects ranging from General Plans and Specific Plans to TOD and downtown revitalization projects.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the preparation and processing of a wide range of planning documents, including General Plans, Specific Plans, Community/Corridor Master Plans, Zoning and Development Applications.
- Mentor and train junior staff to develop their skills and grow the teams expertise.
- Manage comprehensive planning projects, schedules, budgets, and resources.
- Conduct public engagement programs and present projects at public meetings.
- Provide technical expertise in California planning and zoning laws, ordinances, and regulations.
- Support business development efforts, including client interaction and proposal preparation.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams on conceptual design, urban design, development feasibility, and visual simulations.
Qualifications:
Qualifications- Masters Degree in Planning or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of professional experience, with at least 5 years in planning and development specific to California.
- AICP certification strongly preferred.
- Proven experience leading complex planning projects, preparing development applications, and managing public engagement processes.
- Strong knowledge of California planning and zoning laws, ordinances, and local government guidelines.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, ArcGIS, and other planning tools.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Ability to mentor staff and foster a collaborative, high-performing work environment.
- Valid drivers license and good driving record.
