Job Title: Mechanical Repairperson

Primary Function:
The Mechanical Repairperson is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, repairing, installing, and adjusting mechanical equipment. This includes fabricating parts, welding, brazing, and cutting using various gas and electric welding equipment.
Tools & Equipment:
Uses drill presses, power saws, welding equipment, small hand tools, grinders, measuring devices, scaffolds, piping, and rigging equipment.
Materials:
Works with materials such as steel, bronze, aluminum, wood, lubricants, hardware, welding rods, flux, and other miscellaneous materials.
Source of Supervision:
Reports to Shift Supervisor.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspects equipment for defects, wear, or misalignment.
- Installs and lubricates mechanical parts (bearings, gears, bushings).
- Dismantles, cleans, repairs, and replaces equipment and piping.
- Makes sketches for personal use and plans repairs.
- Operates machine tools, power tools, and welding equipment.
- Handles rigging equipment and erects scaffolding.
- Advises when equipment needs to be shut down.
- Performs both temporary and permanent repairs.
- Adjusts mechanical systems for optimal performance.
- Assembles and aligns gears, bearings, and shafts.
- Interprets job orders, drawings, and sketches.
- Selects materials and equipment for tasks.
- Performs welding, brazing, and cutting tasks as needed.
- Follows all safety precautions in the work environment.
- Keeps work areas clean and organized.
