Quality Improvement Manager Grand Rapids, MI
Our client is a leader in the coatings and adhesives industry. They need a Quality Improvement Manager who will provide hands-on leadership of sustainable improvements in safety, quality, productivity, and teamwork.
The Quality Improvement Manager should be versatile, flexible, enthusiastic and successful in a fast-paced team environment.
Responsibilities:
· Manage all aspects of a Quality Control Lab with three Technicians on a 24 x 5 schedule.
· Train QC Lab Technicians to safely perform required quality testing procedures.
· Ensure calibration of all required lab and production instruments used to measure quality.
· Lead cross-functional teams to perform root cause analysis & corrective actions.
· Implement new procedures to reduce occurrence and severity of nonconforming products.
· Train\ production operators to ensure quality procedures are understood and followed
· Perform internal audits of all departments to ensure written procedures are followed.
· Collaborate with Business Unit Managers to manage the customer complaint process.
· Collaborate with the Materials Manager and Planner to manage on-hold material.
· Use available data to identify, quantify and prioritize quality improvement opportunities.
· Apply continuous improvement tools (i.e., LEAN, Six Sigma, others) to lead quality and productivity improvement projects.
Requirements:
· BS degree engineering, 10 years as a Quality or Manufacturing Manager or Engineer.
· Coating, drying, mixing, and web converting process/equipment background is ideal
· Quality Management Systems expertise (ISO9000, IATF16949, AS9100).
· Proven team player who works with others to develop creative, innovative solutions.
· Excellent written and oral communication skills to effectively train and influence others.
· Commitment to excellence, high standards and acute attention to detail.
· Proven project management skills to define workflow, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
· Good judgement with the ability to make timely and sound decisions.
· Proven track record using LEAN/Kaizen principles, problem solving techniques and leading corrective actions.
