Position Summary
We are seeking an Instrumentation and Control (I&C) Project Engineer to join our Concord, CA team. This individual will play a critical role in the successful design, implementation, and optimization of industrial control systems, from project initiation through commissioning.
Key Responsibilities

Lead the design and deployment of control systems to optimize industrial process performance and reliability.

Conduct field investigations and discovery efforts to define project scope and requirements.

Develop and review control system documentation, including logic diagrams, functional narratives, and cause-and-effect matrices.

Assist in the design and review of control panel layouts, wiring diagrams, conduit and cable schedules, and instrumentation deliverables.

Participate in user requirements gathering and system verification walkdowns.

Design and develop DCS and PLC logic and graphics to meet project and client standards.

Collaborate cross-functionally with process engineers, project managers, and operations teams to deliver integrated engineering solutions.

Support project execution including scheduling, reporting, and client communications.

Conduct Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) to ensure system readiness prior to site delivery.

Manage field start-up activities including troubleshooting and commissioning.
Qualifications and Skills
-
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering (or related field); additional certifications in Control Systems or Process Automation are a plus.

Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Control System Engineer with a strong focus on Honeywell DCS and/or Allen Bradley PLC systems.

System integration experience with sensors, actuators, PLCs, and communication protocols such as Modbus, OPC, or Ethernet/IP.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve complex control system issues.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills for collaboration and documentation.

Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred experience with Honeywell DCS platforms (Experion PKS, TDC 3000), Triconex, and Honeywell Safety Manager.

Knowledge of programming languages including ladder logic, Function Block Diagrams (FBD), and Structured Text (ST) is highly desirable.
Physical Requirements

Local travel to refineries and plants as needed.
