FINANCE MANAGER

 

Description of Responsibilities

The Finance Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting functions and financial transactions of the pharmacy.

President

 

 

Scope of Supervision

Finance Assistant

 

 

Responsibilities of the Finance Manager include the following:

 

1.       Ensure proper handling of pharmacy banking, including timely deposits and bank account reconciliation.

2.       Manage activities of Accounts Payable department.

3.       Work with Human Resources to ensure proper payment and posting of payroll. 

4.       Ensure proper payment of all taxes owed by the pharmacy.

5.       Prepare monthly financial statements and prepare adjusting entries.

6.       Develop budget plan for each fiscal year in coordination with President; monitor operational expenses for compliance with the Company expense budget.

7.       Contribute to a positive work climate and overall team effort within the pharmacy.

8.       Prepare financial audits as requested by president.

9.       Work with outside accounting to ensure GAAP compliance. 

10.   Ensure ongoing compliance with all laws and regulations; ensure that the department meets or exceeds accreditation standards; and implement “best practices” in all departmental activities.

11.   Participate in surveys conducted by authorized inspection agencies.

12.   Participate in the pharmacy’s Performance Improvement program as requested by the Human Resources department.

13.   Participate in pharmacy committees when requested.

14.   Participate in in-service education programs provided by the pharmacy.

15.   Pursue continuing education programs appropriate to job responsibilities.

16.   Perform other duties as assigned by the President.

Minimum Qualifications

1.       Ability to organize and plan the activities of subordinates, and to delegate appropriately.

2.       Organizational skills sufficient to maintain consistently accurate records.

3.       Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Management or 10 years of direct accounting experience with escalating responsibility.

4.       Knowledge of the specialized functions of accounting and financial management.

5.       Ability to evaluate options and to make efficient decisions.

6.       Computer skills that include proficiency with spreadsheets and word processing, as well as efficient use of the internet and email.
