Multi-billion dollar worldwide automotive industry components and parts supplier. It is primarily known for its powertrain systems and products which include manual and automatic transmissions and transmission components. The company has 60 manufacturing facilities across 18 countries, including the U.S., Canada, Europe, and Asia. It provides drivetrain components to all three U.S. automakers, as well as a variety of European and Asian original equipment (OEM) customers. Their upstate South Carolina location is looking to hire a Product Line Manager.  

 

Position Summary

 

Reporting directly to Plant Manager, the Product Line Manager (Machining) is accountable for leading a team that meets and/or exceeds customer, safety, productivity, quality and financial goals. Responsible for developing action plans to implement manufacturing strategy in the areas of direct and indirect labor, plant engineering, maintenance, quality, and continuous improvement.  The role acts a developer of employees and managers to increase the talent level for the business unit.

 

Key Roles & Responsibilities

 

·        Support business unit initiatives and balance strategic planning with day-to-day operational excellence

·        P & L responsibility: Develop, review recommendations and tracks progress of major capital expenditures and departmental operational budgets

·        Promote Continuous Improvement culture and drive a Total Quality Systems approach for the Plant/Business Unit in support of operational strategies

·        Establish and inspire a culture that embraces safety, teamwork, inclusion, accountability, employee development and open communication in a manner that positively impacts our employees, customers, community and key performance metrics

·        Use inspirational, entrepreneurial and innovative leadership to departmental disciplines and supporting teams, direct the efforts of Production, Planning and Scheduling, Quality and Maintenance teams to ensure that these resources can meet the business requirements for safety, quality, volume and costs

·        Ensures and monitors the application and execution of the Quality Management Systems in the production areas

·        Provide capital investment justification to the executive leadership team

·        Analyzes the value stream personnel and capital resources and selects the best way to meet safety quality and production requirements on time at a reasonable cost

·        Monitor process operations to determine process efficiency, causes of operating problems and/or deviations from standards

·        Provide executional oversight for the financial plans associated with the Departmental Unit

·        Promote and analyze potential changes in the operation or process which will generate cost savings, production increases and/or reliability increases

·        Champion Safety processes and practices and ensure site compliance with legal, legislative and corporate safety requirements

·        Assist in reviewing production costs and product quality and assist in the modification of production and inventory control programs to maintain a profitable operation

·        Support initiatives responsible for managing critical situations potentially impacting product quality and retrieval of product, as required

Job Requirements & Qualifications  (Education & Experience)

 

·        Bachelor Degree in related discipline

·        MBA preferred

·        Eight (8) plus years of experience in manufacturing related field

·        A minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience supervising a group of mid or senior level professionals in a manufacturing environment

·        Recognized expert with ability to convey/train knowledge to others

·        Demonstrated strong leadership, team building, coaching and the ability to build a culture and motivate people is required

·        Must be highly motivated and results oriented
