Product Development & Applications Technician

Immediate need in an ideal North New Jersey location for a Product Development & Applications Technician. This position is responsible for preparing and shipping all samples to customers, as well as supporting the product development and applications team and learning how to formulate products with flavor applications. Ideal candidate will have the following credentials:

• Manage and execute the preparation, packing, and shipment of product samples in a timely manner
• Effectively and efficiently execute lab projects that are assigned
• Compound and blend flavor products as needed for day to day functions
• Organize, log, and, monitor sample requests in CRM (Customer Relations Management) database
• Set up and participate in daily product tasting; products range from vegan/vegetarian products to meat and seafood
• Engage in sensory support for the product development and quality team as needed
• Support product development and applications team in tastings, sharing feedback and information of ideas and concepts; as well as sample creation as needed
• Assist quality team in evaluation and approval of raw materials and finished goods
• Work in a collaborative team environment with operations, regulatory, quality, sales and marketing personnel
• Organize and maintain new raw material samples from vendors and suppliers
• Maintaining lab stock of most commonly used raw materials and ingredients
• Maintain stock of lab and shipping supplies used

Must have the following background:

• Degree in food science or related field required
• 2+ years relevant experience and a passion for making food taste great
• Able and willing to perform product tastings; which include vegan, vegetarian, meat, poultry, and seafood
• Proficiency with Office suites, as well as ability & willingness to learn new software applications
• Ability to work effectively, both independently and as a team, in fast-paced setting
• Willing to act in situations with uncertain outcomes making educated decisions with confidence and analysis
• Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed
